Garden Muse: Music That Inspires Me In My Garden

I’m not a big fan of ‘Top 10’ lists.  So I’m giving in here a bit to share my top favorite songs that inspire me in the garden.  I’m not even going to limit myself to a specific number.  I’ll just list them…how’s that?

Music is my muse.  I feel at home while listening to a good tune, especially in my garden stomping around in the dirt, planting, creating and designing.

So during these cold dreary January days in So Cal (yep, it gets down to 60-65 degrees here), I thought we could all use a little motivation to get us out in the garden.

Feel free to click on the song title to watch the YouTube video and give it a go……

‘Kid A’ Radiohead  No explanation needed.

Frida soundtrack  For times when I’m feeling a bit moody, this soundtrack provides dramatic inspiration.

‘Check The Meaning’ Richard Ashcroft  – When I’m in need of some spiritually enlightening.

‘In My Tree’ Pearl Jam –  For times when I need to escape from it all.

Japanese Breakfast ‘California Dreaming’ – Ahhhh, a valiant version of this song.  Just discovered this, mesmerizing.

‘Big Sur’  Alanis Morissette  Big Sur is my favorite place on this planet, where true peace, love and gardening resides.

‘Avant Gardener’ – Courtney Barnett  Lyrics speaks for itself.

‘Life’s getting hard in here
So I do some gardening
Anything to take my mind away from where it’s supposed to be.
The nice lady next door talks of green beds
And all the nice things that she wants to plant in them
I wanna grow tomatoes on the front steps.
Sunflowers, bean sprouts, sweet corn and radishes.
I feel pro-active
I pull out weeds’

‘Avant Gardener’ – Courtney Barnett
